The aim of this research project is to create a technological software framework in order to set up complex mobile software solutions and to provide the means for a smooth integration of mobile information and communication systems in business management procedures.
Today internet technology is extremely widespread and everyday business life cannot be imagined without it. However, in its basic functions, internet technology increasingly shows its weak points, especially concerning communication patterns which differ from point-to-point communication, which was prevalent up until now. This has resulted in communication-related problems in numerous mobile situations, which are becoming more and more important in everyday business life. These difficulties urgently require new software techniques for communication support. The need for new software solutions especially becomes obvious with examples of wireless mobile equipment, communication within groups as well as situations involving very diverse equipment.
The research project on hand promises to resolve these problems with its new approach. Through a change of paradigms - from locally fixed contents and services to a content based access - a suitable method will be created to adequately resolve the problems of mobility, heterogeneity and the security of mobile information systems. Through corresponding technological software interfaces, individual services will be carried out and connected in varied ways.
On the whole, the research project on hand will develop new innovative methods to create complex mobile software solutions for company purposes and facilitate a seamless integration of mobile information systems. The planned technological software framework will make it possible for application developers to create specially customized systems, whose service modules can be reused several times. These service modules are inconspicuous for the user as they are automatically integrated according to surroundings and demands.
Both project partners - the chair of "Computer Networks and Internet" (RI) and the Junior Research Group "Protocol Engineering and Distributed Systems" (PS) - cooperate on this research project, applying their specialized knowledge in the corresponding fields of work.
